Bert Herteleer

Renewables Engineer

Bert is a renewable energy engineer and research professional experienced in the assessment and development of tools for the assessment of PV performance modelling and analysis. Bert brings an international perspective to Ekistica, having lived in South America and Europe prior to moving to Australia to join the company in 2016.

With Ekistica, Bert has provided high-quality independent advice, analysis and design engineering services to a range of clients including Australian Government agencies, regional development banks, and commercial investment firms and corporations for works in regional and remote Australia, the Pacific and South Asia.

He provides electrical design and system modelling services to utility scale renewable energy systems, lead analyst and project management services to the Australian Renewable Energy Agency’s national knowledge sharing program, advisory and design engineering services for country-level solar planning activities and a national solar park for the ADB in Cambodia, and is an active member of the International Energy Agency (IEA) Photovoltaic Power Systems (PVPS) Programme Task 13 – a role he has held since 2014.

With a highly developed appreciation and comprehension of the structural barriers associated with developing and building energy infrastructure in remote, regional and marginalised areas, Bert applies critical analytical techniques to translate the complexity of an issue, to understand it deeply, and then use it to create the most meaningful solution.
